But first, a brief recap of the last couple of decades.

Leon Basin sold aggressive skates, parts, and clothing out of his car at skateparks in 2005. This is how Shop Task began.

In 2007, we went online and launched our website.

We opened our first store in Vancouver in 2010.  It was on Union Street. We started selling all types of inline skates. That small location showed us that we could have a big impact on the local skating community.

We moved to a bigger space on Main Street in 2014. Our goal was to accommodate the growing community and expand our skate selection.

Over the next decade, we:

  • Opened more stores.
  • Went on more road trips.
  • Tried all different styles of skating.
  • Closed some stores.
  • Created a new style of skating (Wizard Skating).
  • Made some great videos.
  • Skated with lots of amazing skaters from across Canada and around the globe.
  • Drank a lot of coffee.

Fast forward to the present, and our business (like skating) continues evolving.

In 2024, our lease in Vancouver is ending, and we are moving to Victoria.

We are sad to leave Vancouver but excited for the next adventure.

Thank you to our past and present staff in Vancouver for their hard work. They have served the community well for over ten years. We couldn't have done it without them!

Thank you, our loyal customers, for supporting us since the beginning.

We hope you can visit us on the island. We have some great places to skate.

Thank you again for your continued support, and see you soon!
